Secured Communications has announced internationally renowned cybersecurity expert Tom Patterson as its newest board member.
Tom Patterson is a strategic advisor on cyber and critical infrastructure security issues to corporations, governments, and the international community.
Tom has served as a senior security executive at Deloitte, IBM, and Unisys, where he worked with leadership teams to defend many of the world’s critical enterprises, protecting national borders, transacting trillions of dollars per day, delivering energy to millions, securing global air transit, and providing healthcare to entire populations.
Tom said: “We are in a decade of change in the way we work and live, with new ways to compute, communicate, decision, and defend becoming critical success factors. While enterprises are increasing the security of their core infrastructures, it’s crucial that they also better secure the way they now use video conferencing, group messaging, and file sharing. Secured Communications’ Mercury Workspace is built from a core of advanced security and extended to meet the unified communications and collaboration (UCC) needs of today.”
“I’m excited to join the Secured Communications board, as we grow from a highly secured messaging platform that I trust, to the highly secured UCC Mercury Workspace that the world needs today. Governments and companies alike need a way to keep their most private conversations and collaborations secret from a growing list of adversaries, while still maintaining the necessary agility to succeed throughout this decade of change.” said Tom.
Tom has advised the FBI, Homeland Security, and the White House on security issues, and currently holds a Top-Secret clearance. He served as the co-lead for the White House’s NSTAC Cyber Moonshot subcommittee, which outlines an actionable plan for a safe and secure Internet for critical infrastructure by the end of this decade. He is a guest security expert on national and international media outlets including CNBC, Fox, BBC and CNN, and a frequent speaker at events including TEDx, World Economic Forum, Davos, Blackhat, Gartner, and many other high-level government and industry events around the world.
Secured Communications’ suite of products protects information that is shared online with the most advanced and intuitive encrypted solutions. Its platform, Mercury Workspace, allows users to host ultra-secure HD video conferences, make secure calls, send messages, and share files of unlimited size seamlessly, all within a single application interface for desktop and mobile.
Announcing Tom’s appointment to the Board of Directors at Secured Communications, CEO Rob Wilson said, “As a security technology company, we are passionate about expanding our board to include the most forward-thinking world leaders. Tom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from decades of working to counter cybercrime, espionage, and terrorism across the globe. We are honoured to welcome Tom to the Secured Communications team.”
Tom is the author of the acclaimed book, “Mapping Security”, the only reference of its kind that discusses the security conditions in a range of countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. He is currently a Senior Fellow at Auburn’s McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security, a regular lecturer at Wharton’s SIFMA Executive Education program and the founder of Infrastructure>Forward, a business accelerator supporting the trusted use of AI, Quantum, and Communications technologies in defense of critical infrastructure around the world.
Tom Patterson joins the Secured Communications’ board that also recently welcomed former UK Chief of Police and counter-terrorism expert, John Parkinson.
