Commvault says it has expanded its integration with Microsoft Security, linking its threat detection and recovery tooling with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Security Copilot.
The company said the integration is intended to connect security operations and recovery teams by ingesting Commvault Cloud security alerts into the Microsoft Sentinel data lake, where SOC analysts can enrich incidents and assess impact and scope. Commvault said that, in coming quarters, these insights are expected to support automated, policy-based recovery workflows aimed at speeding clean recovery.
Commvault outlined two integrated capabilities:
Modernised Microsoft Sentinel Connector: Commvault said the connector streams alerts and signals from Commvault Cloud Threat Scan and Risk Analysis into Microsoft Sentinel in real time, including malware detections, backup anomalies and sensitive data exposure. The company said this is designed to give security teams visibility into backup-related risks within existing SOC workflows.
Commvault Investigation Agent in Microsoft Security Copilot: Commvault said the agent is designed for cyber recovery investigations, autonomously analysing suspicious activity and using what it described as “recovery-layer intelligence” to determine scope, including impacted hosts, anomalous encryption patterns and validated restore points. It said correlating this with Microsoft security signals could reduce manual coordination between security and backup teams.
“This isn’t just an integration – it’s a blueprint for the future of agentic ResOps,” said Michelle Graff, SVP, Global Channels and Partnerships at Commvault.
Krishna Kumar Parthasarathy, CVP Sentinel Platform, Microsoft Security, said the combination of Microsoft Security Copilot, Microsoft Sentinel and Commvault’s Threat Scan and Risk Analysis provides “a unified approach” for resilience operations.
Commvault said the updated Microsoft Sentinel connector and the Investigation Agent in Security Copilot are in early access, with general availability expected in summer.
