Rubrik announces Google Cloud integrations for AI agent governance and Cloud SQL resilience

Rubrik has announced two integrations with Google Cloud aimed at governing AI agent deployments and improving cyber resilience for managed PostgreSQL databases on Cloud SQL.

The updates include Rubrik Agent Cloud (RAC) for the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and an integration described as Cyber Resilience for Google Cloud SQL. Both were announced in connection with Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas on April 22–24.

Rubrik said RAC is designed to add “semantic governance” and operational resilience for organisations deploying autonomous agents on Google Cloud. The company cited a Gartner prediction that 40% of enterprise applications will be integrated with task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026, positioning governance and remediation as key requirements as adoption grows.

“As enterprises move into the autonomous era with Gemini Enterprise, security and governance are top of mind,” said Satish Thomas, Vice President, Applied AI & Platform Ecosystem, Google Cloud. “Rubrik helps to provide a unified control layer for agent deployment and security that is critical for AI success.”

“Enterprises want the speed of Google Cloud’s AI technologies, but also require the safety of Rubrik’s cyber resilience,” said Devvret Rishi, General Manager AI, Rubrik. “Through this collaboration, we will remove the governance bottleneck for customers developing with Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. RAC provides real-time guardrails organisations need to speed AI agents into production, without the worry of compromising enterprise security or integrity.”

Rubrik described RAC as being powered by its Semantic AI Governance Engine (SAGE) and outlined features including an inventory of agents running on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform Runtime, policy and permission visibility, and an “Agent Rewind” function intended to undo an autonomous agent’s actions.

Separately, Rubrik said it is extending cyber resilience capabilities to organisations running Google Cloud SQL, enabling customers to use Rubrik Security Cloud to protect managed PostgreSQL databases with immutable, automated backups. Rubrik said the integration is intended to add resilience without disrupting existing database operations or recovery approaches.

“Organisations shouldn’t have to choose between cyber resilience and disaster recovery,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. “With Google Cloud, we’re giving our joint customers immutable backups that work alongside their existing disaster recovery strategy, so they can meet compliance requirements, protect against threats, and recover fast, all without changing their architecture.”

Rubrik said Cloud SQL protection can be managed alongside other Google services via a single interface, with automated discovery of new instances and policy application. It also highlighted storage options in Google Cloud Storage (Archive, Coldline, Nearline) and the use of tag-based retention policies aimed at compliance requirements.

In support of the Cloud SQL announcement, Rubrik referenced findings from Rubrik Zero Labs stating that 90% of IT and security leaders reported cyberattacks in the previous year, and that 35% cited securing data across varied ecosystems as their top challenge.
