WatchGuard launches Rai agentic AI tool aimed at MSP security operations

WatchGuard Technologies has launched Rai, an agentic AI “digital workforce” designed for managed service providers (MSPs), positioning the product as a move from assistive AI features to more autonomous security operations.

The company said Rai was unveiled at its EMEA Impact Partner Conference and is intended to operate as an always-on extension of a security team, monitoring environments and taking authorised actions in response to threats.

The first capability, described as the “Analyst role”, is available now and is intended to support investigation and response across endpoint and network activity. WatchGuard said additional roles, including “Auditor” and “Admin”, are planned, with functions described as covering compliance checks, misconfiguration identification, and operational tasks such as patch scheduling and certificate rotation.

In the announcement, WatchGuard VP of Product Management Ben Oster said the aim is to help organisations address increasing threat “volume and complexity” with tools that can work continuously across customer environments.

Rai’s activity and decision-making are presented through a new WatchGuard Insights Hub, which the company said provides dashboards for MSP-wide visibility and client-specific views, along with a “Daily Brief” summarising actions taken and items requiring attention.

WatchGuard also included a customer quote from eSecurity Solutions’ Michael Ruffolo, who said the consolidated view reduced the need to move between tools and helped clarify what required attention.

The release comes as security vendors continue to push automation and “agentic” capabilities into managed services, where staffing constraints and alert volumes can limit scale. WatchGuard said it plans future enhancements including a natural-language interface to interact with Rai.
