Rocket Software has launched Rocket z/Assurance, a portfolio designed to help organisations manage risk and compliance across IBM Z mainframe environments, including hybrid estates where mainframes remain part of broader IT stacks.
The company said the release is intended to address security pressures linked to faster vulnerability discovery and exploitation driven by AI, and longer-term cryptographic and data-protection impacts expected from quantum computing.
Rocket z/Assurance combines multiple capabilities aimed at identifying vulnerabilities and exposures, validating security controls, monitoring compliance readiness and prioritising remediation. Rocket Software said it plans to introduce “agentic AI” capabilities to help teams interpret findings, prioritise actions and access remediation guidance more efficiently.
The portfolio includes tools for code-level vulnerability and integrity analysis, continuous monitoring for emerging exposures, visibility into missing security patches, and automation of security policy adherence and control validation for audit readiness. It also includes a component focused on cryptographic inventories and quantum-related exposure across z/OS, z/VM and Linux on Z.
Rocket Software cited a report commissioned from Researchscape, stating that 24% of IT leaders were “extremely confident” in their organisation’s ability to address mainframe vulnerabilities over the next year. The company argued that in hybrid environments, organisations need ongoing evidence that security controls remain effective as threats, compliance obligations and modernisation requirements evolve.
