Rubrik launches Code Guardian and adds MCP support for AI agents

Rubrik has announced two product updates it says are aimed at “agentic cyber resilience”, including a new service for analysing software repositories with Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 model and support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect customer AI agents to Rubrik’s platform.

The first announcement introduces Rubrik Code Guardian, which the company says uses an “air-gapped copy” of a customer’s code repository to run red-teaming style analysis and identify multi-step vulnerability chains. Rubrik said the service validates findings for exploitability and turns confirmed critical issues into tracked remediation items.

“Rubrik is one of the partners we are working with to put Claude Mythos 5’s cyber capabilities in defenders’ hands, so they can find and validate attack paths before attackers do,” said Michael Moore, cybersecurity lead at Anthropic.

Rubrik Co-Founder and chief technology officer Arvind Nithrakashyap said the company is using frontier AI to scale vulnerability detection beyond what traditional code scanning tools can achieve, and that running analysis in an isolated environment reduces risk to live repositories and production systems.

Rubrik said Code Guardian can push confirmed issues into developer workflows via Jira or GitHub Issues and includes “recovery workflows” intended to help organisations restore a known-good codebase after a security event or bad build. The company said the product is accepting select design partners for a private preview.

The second announcement is Rubrik MCP (Model Context Protocol), which Rubrik said provides a “secure, programmable path” for an organisation’s AI agents to access Rubrik data, identity and application intelligence. Rubrik said MCP support expands Rubrik AI, which it said is used by one-third of its global customers.

“We are seeing rapid growth with AI, and the addition of Rubrik MCP transforms security operations by seamlessly connecting customer AI agents directly into Rubrik’s rich telemetry and governance framework,” Nithrakashyap said.

Rubrik said MCP exposes its Security Cloud API schema and allows teams to save multi-step recovery or compliance workflows for reuse across AI clients. The company said security controls include role-based access control parity, configurable permissions and guardrails aligned to the OWASP MCP Top 10.

Rubrik said Rubrik MCP is available in private preview for existing customers, with general availability targeted for October 2026.
