ASIS International Announces Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar as Opening Keynote Speaker at ASIS Asia Pacific 2011

Sydney, Australia (2 December, 2011). ASIS International has announced that Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Deputy Inspector General, Royal Malaysia Police will be the opening keynote speaker at the ASIS 5th Asia-Pacific Conference and Exhibition, taking place on 5-7 December 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar joined the Royal Malaysia Police as a Probationary Inspector in 1976 and was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in 2011. During his 35 years of service in the Royal Malaysian Police, he served in various positions including Chief Police Officer of Selangor in 2005, Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Department between November 2006 and July 2007 and was promoted to the position of Director of the Internal Security/Public Order Department in 2010.

Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar graduated with an LLB (Hons) degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia and attended the University of Cambridge for the Wolfson Leadership Course. He was also recognized for his 35 years of service and his commitment to the nation’s security with several awards and was honored with the highest award, the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang which carries the title Dato’ Sri on 19 May 2011.

Dato’ Sri Khalid will be sharing his experience with conference delegates with his open address on the “Government and Private Sector Role in Combating Transnational Crime” on Tuesday 6 December at 9:00am Kuala Lumpur time.

The CSO Roundtable of ASIS International will run sessions in parallel with the main ASIS educational programme. The CSO Roundtable sessions address business-risk issues from the highest levels and are led by senior executives from multinational organizations. In Kuala Lumpur, presentations and panels will look at the impact on APAC companies of the Arab Spring; examine travel-security issues across the region; delve into the risks to information from malicious insiders; discuss specific response strategies to disasters in Asia; and examine the issues surrounding the UK Bribery Act and the FCPA.
