Cybersecurity company Dragos, the global leader in cybersecurity for operational technology (OT) environments, has appointed Mark Matheos as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mark Packham as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), and Darren Sankbeil, who previously served as Dragos CFO, as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).
The executive appointments will be key to driving Dragos’s next stage of growth at a time of accelerating demand for cybersecurity to protect operational technology and cyber physical systems.
“These appointments not only strengthen our leadership capacity in critical areas but also reinforce our commitment to our customers as we drive company growth,” said Dragos CEO Robert M. Lee. “Mark Matheos, Mark Packham, and Darren Sankbeil bring invaluable leadership and industry experience to their roles.”
Matheos brings a track record of finance and accounting leadership as a public company CFO and will drive organisational-wide efforts to prepare the company for its next chapter. He joins Dragos from Appian, where he oversaw that company’s growth from 500 employees to over 2,000 and helped the company successfully negotiate through the IPO process.
” Dragos is in an exciting, fast-growing market and has an undeniably strong company culture,” said Matheos. “Building out a company’s financial strategy for the growth and scale needed to reach its next phase is my wheelhouse, and I am excited for what’s to come.”
Packham joins Dragos as CMO, bringing over 25 years of experience in marketing, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Most recently, as executive VP of marketing at DigiCert, Packham led the global marketing organisation through significant growth and established the DigiCert brand as the leader in digital trust.
“I look forward to leading the growth of our brand and our influence across global markets and diverse industrial sectors,” said Packham. “Our focus on innovation and meaningful customer and partner engagement will be key as we continue to set the standard for industrial and critical infrastructure cybersecurity.”
In the new role of CSO, Sankbeil will work to define strategy across Dragos, develop new market opportunities, drive future acquisition efforts, and directly support key relationships. Sankbeil’s new appointment follows a record of success as the company’s CFO and prior to that, Dragos’s VP of finance and strategy.
In these roles, Sankbeil helped lead the company through multiple rounds of investments, including a record-setting USD110 million in Series C – the most substantial investment at the time for a company in the ICS/OT cybersecurity sector; a USD200 million Series D followed by a USD74 million Series D extension; international expansion into Europe, APAC, and the Middle East; the acquisition of Network Perception, and the formation of Dragos Public Sector LLC, a dedicated subsidiary, delivering operational technology cybersecurity solutions to address the needs of government including US federal agencies.
“We have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us, and I’m looking forward to creating new ways to bring value to our customers and protect their most critical assets,” said Sankbeil.
