F5 Networks has announced the appointment of Tony Bill to the role of Managing Director in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), based in the company’s Sydney office. As part of his new role, Tony will be responsible for managing F5’s business in the region as well as leading its broader strategy for growth, which will focus on the company’s new F5 Synthesis™ architectural vision.
A veteran with more thank 24 years’ experience in the IT industry, Tony joins F5 at a significant juncture. The rollout of F5 Synthesis promotes streamlined interactions with customers and partners through simplified business models and enhanced go-to-market strategies. With deep experience in sales, marketing, general management, as well as specialising in strategic acquisitions, Tony is extremely well positioned to support the company’s new vision.
Most recently, Tony was based in Singapore, where he spent four years in the role of Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Sales at Hewlett Packard (HP). In this role Tony was responsible for HP’s regional sales strategy and execution across the company’s corporate, enterprise and public sector business units.
Prior to this role, Tony held various other positions for over a decade at HP, including Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Systems Group for Australia and New Zealand. During his tenure in that role, Tony grew the company’s sales revenue five-fold. In each of the roles Tony has held, he has driven significant growth in key areas such as revenue, profitability, market share, productivity, and employee engagement.
Joining the F5 Team
Commenting on his new appointment, Tony says, “I am joining F5 at an incredibly important time in the company’s evolution. The new ‘Synthesis’ architectural vision represents a meaningful shift in the way F5 markets and sells its solutions, driving additional opportunities.
“Today’s IT climate is undergoing a massive transformation. We are seeing a new level of global connectedness being driven by all kinds of Internet-enabled devices. This shift has led to higher traffic volumes and data flow over networks, requiring a more efficient way for business to manage and plan interactions with their users,” explains Christian Hentschel Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan, F5 Networks. “This has led to F5’s introduction of Software Defined Application Services (SDAS), which we see as the next phase in the evolution of application delivery, and is one of the key components of the F5 Synthesis vision. Given Tony’s extensive IT background and skillset, he’s an ideal fit to support F5 in ANZ as we enter this next exciting phase.”
F5 Synthesis
The new F5 Synthesis™ architectural vision, which was formally announced in November 2013, helps customer improve service velocity and accelerate time to market through automated provisioning and intelligent service orchestration of application services. It promotes the delivery and orchestration of Software Defined Application Services™ (SDAS™) throughout data centre, cloud, and hybrid environments

Combined with new licensing options, F5 Synthesis helps customers reduce overall costs and extend the value of services to all devices, network types, and applications.
