Key Drivers to Target Residual Cyber Risk Drift

0
Cybersecurity posture management company Panaseer has launched “Key Drivers,” the first product in its new AI Suite, designed to deliver fast, explainable insights into shifting security risks. By analyzing millions of control records in real time, Key Drivers identifies the root causes of risk changes—helping IT and security teams accelerate decision-making, optimize compliance efforts, and close critical security gaps before they escalate.
The AI-driven tool is purpose-built to detect and explain residual risk drift—subtle, often-overlooked changes in the security landscape that may occur even after mitigations are deployed. Key Drivers replaces labor-intensive investigations with near-instant, contextual reporting that CISOs and analysts can use to support audits, executive briefings, and operational triage.
How It Works: AI That Explains What Changed—and Why
Key Drivers taps into Panaseer’s Continuous Controls Monitoring (CCM) platform, offering:
  • Automated Root Cause Analysis: Upon detecting metric thresholds being breached, Key Drivers runs AI analysis to explain the drivers of the change.
  • Business Context Filtering: Security teams can slice insights by dimensions like business unit, device type, location, or OS to localize the impact.
  • Asset-Level Drilldowns: Allows analysts to pinpoint the specific endpoints, users, or systems behind risk changes for targeted response.
  • Report-Ready Summaries: Outputs are written in clear, executive-friendly language, suitable for compliance documentation or stakeholder reporting.
Example use cases include identifying phishing test failures within specific departments or uncovering a pattern of outdated Windows 8 machines failing patching SLAs in critical environments—risks that might otherwise go unnoticed.
For CISOs and Security Teams: Speed, Clarity, and Confidence
The product is designed with both leaders and hands-on analysts in mind:
  • CISOs benefit from reduced manual analysis and simplified reporting that links technical metrics to business risk. The system supports compliance by clearly demonstrating progress on risk posture to boards and regulators.
  • Security Analysts gain what Panaseer describes as a “personal investigative assistant”—automating labor-intensive data queries and accelerating root cause triage.
“Key Drivers doesn’t just flag anomalies, it explains them,” said Marc Moesse, Chief Product Officer at Panaseer. “It acts as a force multiplier—helping teams make smarter, faster, data-driven decisions instead of relying on instinct or assumptions.”
Tackling the Invisible Risks That Linger
Panaseer CEO Jonathan Gill emphasized the importance of real-time visibility in a cybersecurity landscape marked by increasing complexity:
“Residual risk isn’t an abstract concept—it’s the unpatched servers, the misconfigured cloud assets, the orphaned systems that nobody owns,” Gill said. “Security posture can change dramatically in days. With Key Drivers, we give teams a living, breathing view of their environment to spot those changes and act before it’s too late.”
What’s Next in the AI Suite
Key Drivers is the first release in Panaseer’s broader AI Suite roadmap, which aims to:
  • Enhance AI governance in cybersecurity operations
  • Accelerate regulatory compliance
  • Strengthen cyber resilience through automated insights
Future AI modules are expected to expand on these capabilities with more advanced policy enforcement, behavioral analysis, and cross-platform visibility.
