Brett Biddington is the founder of a Canberra based consulting company which specialises in space and cyber security matters. Between 2002 and 2009 he was a member of Cisco Systems’ global space team and before that he served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as an intelligence and security specialist before moving into capability development. Dr Dave Brooks (PhD, MSc, BSc) is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher within the Security Research Centre (secau ) at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. Konrad Buczynski started his career as an Australian Army Officer, security consultant, then Chief Security Officer and Crisis/BCM Program Manager at Thales Australia-New Zealand. Fifteen years later he is now Director of Agilient; a specialist security, risk and resilience consultancy firm.
Jill Burroughs is Director of Test Security for Pearson VUE. Before joining the computer-based testing company, Ms. Burroughs was the senior director of exam services for CompTIA where she was responsible for the development and delivery of their global certification programs. She has also worked as a security and investigative professional in both the public and private sectors where she specialized in intellectual property protection, fraud and financial investigations and electronic discovery. Jeff Corkill is a former military intelligence officer who after serving 20 years shifted to the resource sector and spent the next 10 years of his career focusing primarily on the security intelligence needs of the precious minerals industry. In 2007 Jeff entered academia and he now lectures in Intelligence and Security and is actively researching in the fields of intelligence analysis, CCTV surveillance and personnel vetting at Edith Cowan University in Perth. He is in the final stages of his PhD which is focused on the role of professional artistry in intelligence analysis and what characteristics separate average from outstanding analysts. Jeff has held a number of security management roles in the resource sector and consults in the security and intelligence field. His previous consultancy work has included working with the UN and private companies primarily on issues related to intelligence and surveillance.
Geoff Craighead CPP is vice president of high-rise and real estate services for Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. For more than 25 years, he has been involved with the security and life safety operations of high-rise facilities, including the mixed-use Ocean Centre and Ocean Terminal in Hong Kong, the 62-storey First Interstate Bank Building in Los Angeles, and numerous commercial buildings throughout North America. He has managed security staff, conducted risk assessments, carried out investigations, formulated security policies and procedures, written building emergency management plans, developd high-rise training programs, and contributed chapters and articles on subjects ranging from high-rise training programs, and contributed chapters and articles on subjects ranging from high-rise security, emergency planning, and security consulting, to the use of computers in security management.

John Cunningham is the Owner and Founder of Area Reconnaissance Ground and Urban Support Robotics (ARGUS), USA. John received his BS degree from West Virginia University in Mining Engineering and MS Degree from Marshall University in Technology Management-Manufacturing. For 24 years John oversaw design and manufacturing of thousands of wheeled and tracked commercial construction vehicles for domestic and international markets. The US Department of Defense approached John requesting commercial vehicles to be made in both manual and robotic functions for anti-IED efforts. Such vehicles were quickly made and exceeded all key point parameters. From this request a series of vehicles have been designed on a common platform to meet a wide range of security and humanitarian needs around the world.
Matthew Curtis is a principal consultant and the Security Service Group Manager in Canberra for the global consulting company, GHD. He is a member of the Australasian Council of Security Professionals the peak representational body for the security profession in Australia and New Zealand, and he chairs that body’s Standards Advisory Board. Matthew has served approximately 20 years in the foreign affairs portfolio in a range of onshore and offshore postings. Professor Martin Gill is the Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International. Martin is also a Professor of Criminology and for more than two decades has been actively involved in a range of studies relating to different aspects of crime and its prevention. He has a particular interest in business crime and the security sector. Martin has published widely (13 books and more than 100 articles including ‘Managing Security’ and ‘CCTV’ published in 2003, and the ‘Handbook of Security’ published in 2006) and is co-editor of Security Journal. In 2002 the ASIS Security Foundation made a ‘citation for distinguished service’ in ‘recognition of his significant contribution to the security profession’. In 2010 he was recognised by the British Security Industry Association with a special award for ‘outstanding service to the security sector’.

Professor Efraim Inbar, Yizhak Rabin Center for Israel Studies, Israel Born in Romania (1947), educated at the Hebrew University (B.A. in Political Science and English Literature) and at the University of Chicago (M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science), Efraim Inbar is a Professor in Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University and the Director of its Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies. He served as visiting professor at Georgetown University (1991-92) and visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (1996). Prof. Inbar has been appointed as a Manfred Warner NATO Fellow (1998) and was a visiting Fellow at the (London) International Institute for Strategic Studies (2000). He is also the recipient of the Onassis Fellowship (2003). He often lectures at institutions such as RAND, Council of Foreign Relations, Harvard, MIT, Columbia and Yale Universities. Professor Inbar served in the Israel Defence Force (IDF) as a paratrooper, and he is presently posted (in reserve) at the IDF College of Staff and Command. He was a member of the Political Strategic Committee of the National Planning Council and the Chair of the Committee for the National Security Curriculum at the Ministry of Education. Roger G Johnston, PhD, CPP, is Leader of the Vulnerability Assessment Team at Argonne National Laboratory. He was founder and head of the Vulnerability Assessment Team at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1992 to 2007. Roger graduated from Carleton College (1977), and received MS and PhD degrees in physics from the University of Colorado (1983). He has authored more than 165 technical papers and 90 invited talks (including 6 Keynote Addresses), holds 10 US patents, and serves as Editor of the Journal of Physical Security.
Paul Johnstone is a former Federal Agent with the Australian Federal Police and a former Soldier with the Australian Army. Steve Mark is a lawyer by profession, and is Chairman of the Australian Section of the International Commission of Jurists (“ASICJ”). In January 2010, Steve Mark was appointed Registrar, Australasian Register of Security Professionals. In 2011 he was appointed Technical Committee Member to the International Standards for Security Agencies Technical Committee. Steve is also a director of Midnight Basketball, which produces basketball competitions for “at risk” street kids.
Dr Pascual Marqués is the Owner and Executive Director at Marques Aviation Ltd (UK) and the International Director (United Kingdom) of Unmanned Vehicle University. Dr Marqués is an expert in Aerodynamics and Flight Stability. At Marques Aviation Ltd he oversees the design and manufacture of novel fixed-wing and rotor unmanned aircraft developed by the company. Dr Marqués acts as the Chair for the World Congress on Unmanned Systems Engineering (WCUSEng) and the International Aerospace Engineering Conference (IAEC). Nicole Matrai formerly led Minter Ellison Perth’s International Trade Practice. Professor Anthony Minnaar, since January 2009, has been the Programme Head: Security Management for the merged Department of Criminology & Security Science in the School of Criminal Justice of the College of Law, at the University of South Africa. He was appointed a full Professor in July 2003. In January 2013, he was appointed as a Research Professor at UNISA. In 2012, he received a re-rating as a National Research Foundation (NRF) Researcher of C1, is a recipient in October 2006, of the University of South Africa (UNISA) Chancellor’s Prize for Research: School of Criminal of Justice. He has published widely and presented at numerous international conferences on a wide variety of topics and issues in criminal justice and security management.

Professor Ricke Sarre is Professor of Law and Criminal Justice in the School of Commerce. He is also an Associate Researcher with UniSA’s Hawke Research Institute for Sustainable Societies and a member of the Centre for Peace, Conflict and Mediation in the Institute. Rick has held many leadership roles within UniSA during the past 25 years, including being a Head of School and a Dean of Teaching. In 2006 he won the Division of Business Research Excellence Award. After five years of legal practice, for 25 years Rick has been teaching commercial law, criminology and media law, among other subjects. In 2008 he received an Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation as a nationally recognised teacher. He was formerly on the national committee of the Australasian Law Teachers Association. Rick is an Associate Investigator in the Australian Research Council’s Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security and is a member of Essex University’s Corporate and White Collar Crime Network. Rick has published more than 130 scholarly articles on legal and justice-related topics. His most recent book focuses on the law that applies to the private security industry. Dean C Simone, US Risk Assurance Services Leader, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Dean is a Philadelphia-based partner who leads PwC’s Risk Assurance practice, including Internal Audit, Third Party Assurance, Process Assurance, IT & Project Assurance, and Governance Risk & Compliance. In this role he directs a team of 1,900 professionals within PwC to advise clients on designing and implementing risk and compliance programs, creating audits and internal controls processes around business performance issues and IT systems, as well as strategy and contingency planning. Dr Robyn Torok is undertaking a second PhD in Security Science at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. Torok’s research focuses on the role of the internet (social media) in recruitment of terrorists to jihad, in particular, to martyrdom operations. Torok specialises in home-grown terrorism and the threat lone-wolf terrorism poses to Western nations, including Australia’s, and how this threat will impact the country’s national security. Torok’s research is leading the way to enable better understanding of how the internet is used to influence, steer, guide and change a person from moderate views of Islam to more extreme views leading to terrorist recruitment.
Professor Craig Valli has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, he conducts research and consults to industry and government on network security and digital forensics issues.
