Trend Micro investment supports doubling revenue, team expansion and greater market share
Trend Micro has officially opened its new Australia and New Zealand headquarters in Sydney, joined by Dhanya Thakkar, managing director and VP for Asia Pacific at Trend Micro and Mr Damon Rees, the NSW Government’s chief information and digital officer.
The past two years have seen Trend Micro’s ANZ operations grow rapidly, doubling sales revenue, the number of channel partners and the size of offices in all major cities. The team required more space and a fresh, collaborative office to help support innovation and further expansion in the region.
The number of employees at Trend Micro locally has grown by 20 percent in the past two years to more than 80 people, with plans to reach 100 by the end of the year.
The company is moving its local headquarters to a new office located on Level 15, 1 Pacific Highway in North Sydney. The new premises will incorporate offices, a training suite and demo lab space which will also give the company space to grow in the future. The company anticipates doubling its employees over the next three to five years.
This in line with customer growth across the region and an expansion of Trend Micro’s partner program seeing the number of new channel partners double in the past two years.
“This past year has been pivotal for many Trend Micro customers who are navigating digital transformation,” said Dhanya Thakkar, VP and managing director APAC at Trend Micro. “We are seeing significant momentum toward cloud-based and cloud-enabled solutions and are confident we can cement our market leadership position in server security.”
Trend Micro has been the #1 market share leader in server security for physical, virtual, cloud and hybrid environments since 2009 and has partnerships and solutions available across the top three cloud venders, with cloud security solutions built for AWS, Azure, and vCloud Air. Trend Micro has also been named a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms since 2002. In 2016, Trend Micro placed furthest to the right in the quadrant for Completeness of Vision.
“Trend Micro has continued to develop and deliver innovative security that is smart, simple to use and fits the way organisations operate in the cloud. Our growth in this area is also a direct result of expanding our relationships with cloud providers to extend customers’ security capabilities, said Thakkar”
One of the primary goals for Trend Micro in the year ahead is addressing the challenge of new threats appearing as rapidly as technology changes. The company recently introduced XGen™ endpoint security which adds machine learning to a blend of threat defence techniques to intelligently apply the right technology at the right time, resulting in more effective and efficient protection against a full range of threats.
The NSW Government’s Chief Information and Digital Officer, Damon Rees congratulated Trend Micro on the expansion.
“NSW is at the forefront of ICT and digital capability in Australia. A big part of our success is the strong community of local partners whose expertise, culture of innovation and appetite for new talent continues to drive growth,” Mr Rees said.
“Trend Micro’s expansion highlights the opportunities and talent that NSW has to offer technology companies,” he said.
Trend Micro’s North Sydney headquarters offers 180 degree harbour views, extensive natural light and a bright and simple design concept to the new open plan office. The space is designed to increase collaboration between employees and departments and bring a comfortable but inspiring working environment. The new office also reflects and supports Trend Micro’s modern workforce with several hot desks with lockers to accommodate sales and support staff.
In addition to its new headquarters in Sydney, Trend Micro also has offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Auckland, with teams working across all regions of Australia and New Zealand.
“Australia and New Zealand are incredibly important markets for Trend Micro and we hope our continued investment and commitment to the region will help our customers and partners achieve success now and into the future,” Thakkar concluded.
