Veeam Data Platform v13 launches

0
Veeam has released Veeam Data Platform v13, introducing a major overhaul of its cyber resilience and data-protection capabilities at a time when organisations face relentless ransomware pressure, rapid infrastructure change and growing reliance on AI-driven services. The new version brings advanced security, intelligence and flexibility intended to help businesses maintain trusted, recoverable data across hybrid and cloud environments.
Veeam says the platform—used by more than 550,000 customers worldwide—has been redesigned to deliver stronger protection, faster recovery and deeper insight into threats. The update introduces new AI-powered analysis tools, expanded workload coverage and a new integration API that opens the platform to any hypervisor vendor.
A key upgrade is the integration of Recon Scanner 3.0, powered by Coveware and built directly into the platform. It monitors endpoints and backup environments for adversary behaviour such as brute-force attempts, unusual file operations and suspicious network activity. A consolidated triage inbox centralises all alerts with severity ratings, while integration with Veeam ONE provides real-time threat visualisation. Recon Scanner also feeds intelligence into Microsoft Sentinel and maps findings to the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
V13 also debuts Veeam’s Malware Analysis AI Agent, designed to automatically detect, classify and provide guidance on malware, ensuring recoveries remain clean and trusted. Security and identity controls receive a significant update, including least-privilege access, SAML-based single sign-on and backups set as immutable by default. The platform now integrates more tightly with security and IT operations tools such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Splunk and ServiceNow.
To support modernisation and hybrid cloud adoption, Veeam has expanded hypervisor coverage and strengthened workload mobility. Instant recovery to Microsoft Azure is now available, including the ability to validate recoverability in a secure cleanroom environment. Support for Scale Computing HyperCore is live, with future compatibility planned for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials, Citrix XenServer, XCP-ng and OpenShift Virtualisation. Veeam is also introducing a Universal Hypervisor Integration API, allowing any hypervisor vendor to natively integrate with Veeam using a standardised framework.
V13 also focuses on simplifying deployment and management. A hardened software appliance with high-availability support removes the need for proprietary hardware, while the new browser-based console provides a modern interface for setup and day-to-day administration.
CEO Anand Eswaran said the release represents a major step toward an intelligent, unified data and AI governance platform. He described v13 as a “resetting of the standard for data resilience,” positioning it as the foundation for Veeam’s next chapter.
Veeam Data Platform v13 is available now through the company’s global partner network. Recon Scanner 3.0 is included in the Premium edition and will be extended to Veeam Cloud & Service Provider partners soon.
