Synology and Acronis have announced a partnership that will see Acronis True Image Essentials bundled with Synology’s BeeDrive, BeeStation and BeeStation Plus devices, aiming to strengthen data protection for personal and small office users. Each product will include a three-year True Image Essentials license for one computer, giving customers access to full-system backup alongside Synology’s local storage capabilities.
The collaboration is designed to allow users to create complete computer backups — including operating systems, applications and settings — while keeping their data stored locally on their own devices. Synology said this approach provides greater control and security for households and small teams that want ownership of their data without relying solely on cloud services.
Sabrina Chen, Director of Synology’s Digital Life Group, said the Bee Series was built to make data protection simple for non-enterprise users, and that integrating Acronis’ backup software extends this ease of use to full-system protection. Acronis True Image Lead Product Manager Gabriela Licheva said the two companies’ technologies complement each other, combining consumer-grade backup and cybersecurity features with Synology’s storage and AI-driven file-management tools.
Synology’s BeeDrive functions as a high-speed personal backup hub for computers and mobile devices, and includes Deep Search, an on-device AI engine that allows users to locate files by keywords, descriptions or location. BeeStation, a personal cloud server, offers shared file access for households and small teams, as well as AI-based photo organisation features.
The addition of Acronis True Image Essentials brings integrated ransomware protection and system-level recovery tools to the Bee Series, providing an all-in-one backup approach for users managing growing volumes of personal and professional data.
