CrowdStrike has appointed AJ Shipley as chief product officer, with the company saying he will lead its product organisation and focus on product development across the CrowdStrike Falcon platform.

Shipley joins from Splunk Security, where he served as chief product officer. CrowdStrike said he has more than 20 years of cybersecurity experience.

In the announcement, CrowdStrike CEO and founder George Kurtz said Shipley would help the company address security demands emerging from enterprise AI deployments.

The company said Shipley previously led product management for Cisco’s Threat Detection and Response portfolio, covering XDR, EDR, NDR, email security and vulnerability management. CrowdStrike said he built Cisco XDR and contributed to due diligence and the investment thesis behind Cisco’s $28 billion acquisition of Splunk. Shipley has also held senior product leadership roles at Palo Alto Networks, according to CrowdStrike.

Shipley said the company’s next opportunity is “securing how the world adopts AI”, and pointed to the Falcon platform’s architecture as the basis for securing AI-driven enterprise environments.
