ISACA has launched a new Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) certification aimed at IT risk professionals tasked with assessing, governing and managing AI risk across an organisation.
ISACA said the credential is intended for risk practitioners navigating what it described as increasing AI use across business functions, alongside emerging vulnerabilities and threats. The AAIR certification covers three practice areas: AI risk governance and framework integration, AI lifecycle risk management, and AI risk program management.
“AI is moving faster than many organisations are prepared for, and IT risk professionals are on the front lines,” says Erik Prusch, ISACA CEO. “The launch of AAIR gives risk professionals the practical skills they need now to understand, assess and manage AI risk.”
ISACA said the certification is designed to build on existing risk management expertise, with eligibility requiring proven experience in IT risk or advisory roles, as well as holding one of 25 prerequisite certifications. Examples listed include CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, CRMP, CRMA, CGRC, CISSP, CERP, and CRCM. Candidates must also pass an exam.
ISACA said it is offering supporting materials for candidates, including an online review course, a questions, answers and explanations database, and a review manual in digital or print formats.
The AAIR credential follows two other AI-focused certifications introduced by ISACA: Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) and Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM).
“For decades, ISACA has set the standard for trusted leadership in credentialing and training to help digital trust professionals rise to the occasion amid technological changes,” says Shannon Donahue, ISACA Chief Content and Publishing Officer. “As continuous learning becomes even more vital with the rapid pace of change, our growing suite of AI-focused certifications and learning tools will equip our professional community to drive responsible innovation for their organisations.”
