On the 22nd of August, more than 100 resource and energy industry leaders have gathered in Perth (Perth Convention Centre) for a national forum hosted by AMMA – Australia’s peak resource industry employer group.

AMMA’s chief executive Steve Knott AM said the gathering was timely as industry leaders tackled the impact of disruption and industry-wide strategies to counter.

“AMMA has been monitoring the rise of activism and global campaigning in Australia and our sector is concerned,” he said.

“Specifically, the impacts on Australian operations, social license to operate, industrial relations and employee engagement will be discussed with international specialists who deal with these matters on a global scale.”

Keynote speaker US workplace relations consultant Clark Herman will provide his international insights and experience.

Also from the US, renowned human resources (HR) thought leader Dave Ulrich will workshop the ‘future of work’, categorised by automation and globalisation – an area where the resource industry is already a leader in Australia.

“Dave will address the economic, political and social change impact on work and HR, the future of work and implications for HR and the trends in HR pertaining to talent, culture and leadership as it pertains to Australian and the resource and energy industry,” Mr Knott said.

In the evening of 22nd August, the sector celebrates individual and company achievements with the 10th Annual AMMA Industry Awards.
