SailPoint updates cloud and on-premises identity security with Human Fabric and IdentityIQ 9.0

SailPoint has announced new capabilities for its cloud-based Human Fabric platform and released IdentityIQ 9.0 for on-premises and hybrid deployments, positioning the changes as a platform modernisation aimed at enterprise-scale identity governance.

The updates were announced at the company’s Navigate conference. SailPoint said the releases are intended to address limits in existing identity governance infrastructure as enterprises expand cloud adoption while maintaining legacy and regulated environments.

For Human Fabric, SailPoint outlined three changes: enhancements to access certifications, an updated separation of duties (SoD) engine, and a new “conversational” access request feature.

The company said it has re-platformed its certification engine to support large-scale access reviews and added features including cryptographic sign-off for regulated industries. For SoD, SailPoint said its engine will evaluate access requests in real time and block conflicting access combinations at the point of request, including conflicts created by other requests that are still pending. The conversational access request feature is described as an AI-driven agent intended to let users request access using natural language via chat tools, with support for custom forms and business justification fields.

For customers running on-premises or hybrid deployments, SailPoint said IdentityIQ 9.0 introduces changes focused on governance, technical foundations and user experience, including granular, time-based access for roles and entitlements and a refreshed interface for access reviews and application definition.

SailPoint also said it is providing an automated upgrade tool designed to scan customer environments and reduce manual work associated with upgrades, a process the company said can be a barrier for on-premises customers with customised deployments or regulatory constraints.

Chandra Gnanasambandam, EVP of Product and chief technology officer at SailPoint, said the company is aiming to support customers modernising at different paces across cloud and on-premises environments.

“Most vendors ask their customers to choose between a growth story or a stewardship story, but the reality of the modern enterprise is not that simple. Today, we are delivering on both fronts. We are advancing the frontier of cloud identity security with Human Fabric while also demonstrating our commitment to the customers who rely on IdentityIQ for identity security. This is one modernisation effort on two fronts, ensuring every customer has a path forward without compromise,” Gnanasambandam said.
